Sample map from strategic plan
In a new partnership, a team of graduate students from Duke University's Nicholas School of the Environment have created a management plan for the Preserve that will help us balance our desire to protect and preserve our natural resources while also expanding use of the Preserve for educational purposes.
Executive Summary:
The Jack Creek Preserve Foundation manages a 4350-acre wildlife preserve in southwest Montana. The Foundation seeks to expand its youth and visitor educational opportunities while maintaining the Preserve’s conservation of wildlife, forests, and rangeland. The development of a new Conservation Education Center presents the Foundation with the challenge of balancing wildlife habitat conservation amid an expected increase in land use. Our purpose is to provide the Jack Creek Preserve Foundation’s Board of Directors with a strategic plan that meets the needs and addresses the concerns of the Foundation, as well as all partner organizations and additional stakeholders. To achieve a balance between conservation and development, our strategic plan outlines three recommended goals to 1) develop an adaptable conservation strategy; 2) cultivate increased human capital; and, 3) diversify fundraising opportunities.
During the upcoming year we will be following the guidelines submitted to implement this strategic plan. We'll keep you posted on our progress!
