We are very grateful for the partners and supporters we have. The organizations below have worked with us and/or provided funding so that together we can work towards our mission. Thank you to one and all!
In 1984, four hunters from Troy, MT created the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation (RMEF) in order to ensure that future generations would live to see healthy habitat supporting healthy elk populations. Their first project was a $450 donation to support a graduate student research project on the Northern Yellowstone elk herd. Four years later, they made their first land aquisition: 16,440 acres on Montana's Robb Creek Ranch.
Since then, the RMEF has protected or restored approximately 5.9 million acres of land across the US. More than 626,000 acres of land have been opened for public recreational use. The impact has not gone unnoticed. To honor their contribution to wildlife and habitat conservation, the RMEF has received awards from the Greater Yellowstone Coalition, the Wildlife Society, the United Nations, Boone & Crockett, the US Forest Service, BLM, and more.
In addition to raising money for conservation of habitat and wildlife, the RMEF serves its communities through an active volunteer network of over 10,000 people that give countless hours of their time each year. On the Jack Creek Preserve alone, more than 50 RMEF volunteers have donated thousands of hours and dollars in support of our Youth Camp. And they have donated critical seed money to ensure the building of our Con-Ed Center. And we are just one of the many organizations they support. Imagine what they are doing nationwide!
When you have a moment, take a look at the RMEF web site and see for yourself what this grass-roots organization had done for wildlife and habitat in a mere three decades. We are very grateful for their work and for their support. Thanks, RMEF!
